Beginning in the summer of 2005 with "The Water Well Project,"
YouthInkwell Publishing has already published four books incorporating
the work of fifty-one young authors, artists and editors. A
percentage of the proceeds support water projects in Southern
Ethiopia.
With four published books, YouthInkwell authors and artists have
been raising money for water projects in the SNNPRS (Southern Nations,
Nationalities' and Peoples' Regional State) of Ethiopia. For more
than four years, they have worked with YouthInkwell’s Youth Leadership
Board to educate others about the lack of access to clean water in
regions of East Africa.
In December 2008, eight YouthInkwell representatives (ages 12-20)
went to Ethiopia to see first hand how they can help.
Working with organizations already fully entrenched in water
and sanitation development in Ethiopia,
YouthInkwell Publishing has set a goal to raise $100,000
for the people in the Western Abaya Area Development Project.
With young girls no longer having to walk miles for clean water,
they will finally be able to go to school.
